Congratulations to Mr. Agostino!

July 1, 2024

Congratulations to Mr. Agostino for being selected as Best Teacher of the Month by 106.7 Lite FM iHeart Radio and receiving his award in person in Orlando, FL this summer!

When asked how he felt about teaching, Mr. Agostino shared the following beautiful sentiments, “Over the past nine years, I have worked in the Diocese of Bridgeport. During that time, I have worked with sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students in Middle School Social Studies, Religion, and Math. From the start, each day in the Diocese has truly been a pleasure as it is rewarding to see the intellectual growth of all students. Even on the most challenging days, there is always so much to be thankful for in this wonderful profession. Each day, I have always made it a goal of mine to make the day of at least one child better whether it is through a lesson, lending a helping hand, or providing some helpful advice. I have always kept the words of an incredible quotation from the film classic, “It’s A Wonderful Life” in mind. The quotation is, “All you can take with you is that which you have given away.” It is a reminder that our time here is precious and with that time, it is important to positively impact the lives of others (and for me, it’s the students within my classroom). As we teach and guide the individuals within our classroom, it is important to do so in a way where they can not just always remember the content (but also remember the values shared within the classroom). These values are of course faith, kindness, integrity, respect, curiosity, and hard work, among others. These are the values that were also instilled in me when I was their age by my mother, grandparents, and aunts. Through my example, just like the other incredible teachers at the Catholic Academy, we hope to form respectful and faithful citizens of our great nation (and ones that contribute to it in a positive way). It has been a pleasure working with Ms. Brady and the extraordinary staff here at the Catholic Academy (and I look forward to many more years to come)!”
