grandparents

We love our Grandparents!

Grandparents wear so many hats – pillars of our families, passionate guardians of our Grandchildren, staunch supporters of Catholic education, providers of love and support from those in your community, etc. While you are one of our most beloved populations, you are also the center of our service program for grades Prek3-2nd grade.

There are numerous opportunities to give of your time, talent or treasure!

Staying Informed:
CAS publishes a weekly e-newsletter that is sent to all families on Sunday mornings. If you are interested in receiving these newsletters by email, please contact our Director of Marketing & Communications, Jen Hanley at jhanley@catholicacademystamford.org and she will gladly add you to our distribution list. Jen shares a lot of fun and interesting peeks into the CAS community through social media. Please follow us on Facebook and Instagram!

Volunteering and Virtus:
Our community opens our doors to families of our students throughout the year. Many grandparents are welcomed to lend their helping hands.  If you are interested in volunteering, please note you must be Virtus trained and can send a note to pvg@catholicacademystamford.org for a list of opportunities throughout the year.  Grandparents even spearhead initiatives, such as our Popcorn Grandies who run our Spirit Wednesdays once per month. We also love when our grandparents come to read to our classes!

For information on Virtus training, please visit: https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/

Grandparents Day:
Grandparents Day is an annual celebration filled with singing, laughter and excitement as our students welcome their grandparents to our campus. This year, our students in Prek3-2nd grade and their families celebrated a special Mass and reception on May 9th in the Church of St. Cecilia. For more information, please contact pvg@catholicacademystamford.org.

Service Program:
Our school wide service program is integrated in all grades from Prek3-8th grade to give back in many ways to our community. Grades Prek3-2nd grade actually focus specifically on learning the value and contribution of the elderly in our community. Students in Prek3-K participate in various activities dedicated to the special gifts our grandparents give us. CAS Service Program

If you have an elderly friend that would like to join you, please welcome them to get Virtus trained and come along! Just because it hasn’t been done before doesn’t mean, we won’t welcome your involvement. Please send any thoughts and ideas you have to PVG and help us start something new!

We understand that not everyone can contribute in the same way, but every little bit helps. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply spreading the word, your support means the world to us and to the entire CAS family. We are so grateful to have you in our lives and hope to see much more of all of you in our halls this coming school year.
